CHESED CONFETTI
Judaism teaches us that the world stands on three things: Torah, service to God, and acts of loving kindness. Kindness (in Hebrew — chesed) is foundational to living Jewishly, and every time we are kind, we not only help create a better world, we also make joy for ourselves. This simple craft gives children a concrete way to understand our duty to sprinkle chesed everywhere we go. Sometimes we can sprinkle a lot of chesed; other times, we may only leave a little. Either way, every act of loving kindness is immensely valuable and helps build the kind of world we want to live in.
HERE’S WHAT YOU NEED:
-Color paper (scrapbook paper, printer paper, construction paper, or any paper you like)
-Heart craft punch
-Bottle to hold the confetti — preferably recycled (I recycled a coffee jar)
-Chesed Confetti Labels TEMPLATE (this template uses Avery 22806 labels)
HERE’S WHAT YOU DO:
(1) Recycle a bottle or jar that has a shape you like — clean and dry it thoroughly. (2) Use a heart (or it could be a different shape) craft punch to create lots of little paper hearts. Please note that regular weight paper is easier for kiddos to work with. I used cardstock, and it took more muscle power! (3) Put the little hearts in your bottle. (4) Label the bottle “Chesed Confetti.” If you like, you can use the TEMPLATE I used to make the label seen in the photos. (5) Now, wherever you go, sprinkle some chesed — both your Chesed Confetti and actual chesed — to make the world a better place!
