GLITTER PLAY DOUGH PURIM CROWNS
Is it possible to outgrow a love of play dough? I don’t think so either! You’ll love this super simple homemade play dough recipe from Jean Van’t Hul of The Artful Parent. It’s quick and easy to make, and the end result is play dough perfection! Add in some bright colors and glitter, and you’ll be ready to make some festive crowns for Purim! Can’t decide if you want to make a crown for Queen Esther or King Ahasuerus? Make a bunch for both of them, of course; and add in some gems to make them extra sparkly! Purim is sure to be extra joyful with this merry craft!
HERE’S WHAT YOU NEED:
-2 cups flour
-1 cup salt
-2 Tablespoons cream of tartar
-2 Tablespoons oil
-2 cups boiling water
-Food coloring
-Glitter
-Crown cookie cutter
-Optional: rolling pin
-Optional: craft gems
HERE’S WHAT YOU DO:
(1) Mix all the dry ingredients in a medium or large bowl. (2) Make a well in the center of the dry ingredients, and then add the oil and food coloring (if you’re making more than one color, you’ll add the food coloring once the dough is set). (3) Pour in the boiling water and mix thoroughly. It will be sticky and messy at first, but let it sit for a few minutes, and it will be just right! (4) Knead the dough for a bit so that it’s nice and smooth, then add the glitter and work it through the dough. If you’re making multiple colors, you can divide the dough and knead in the individual colors. (5) Roll out the dough and use a crown cookie cutter to make your play dough crowns. (6) Add some craft gems (it’s so fun to smush them in!) to make the crowns extra sparkly! Chag Sameach! Happy Purim!
