PAINTED APPLE CARDS
The best way to wish family and friends a happy Rosh Hashanah is to give them a homemade card — and there’s nothing sweeter than a Painted Apple Card! Your kiddos will love painting apples in whatever styles and colors they can imagine and then sending their “Shana Tova” wishes to dear ones near and far!
HERE’S WHAT YOU NEED:
-Cardstock or watercolor paper notecards and envelopes (I cut my cards to 6” x 3” size from 9” x 12” pieces of watercolor paper and then folded them in half to make a 3” x 3” card and used 3.25” x 3.25” envelopes)
-Paint (I used acrylic, but alternatively you could use watercolors or tempera)
-Paintbrushes
-Optional: painters tape to get that nice clean framed edge (I used 1/4” inch tape)
HERE’S WHAT YOU DO:
(1) If you’re using painters tape, frame the edges of the front of each card. (2) Paint your background color and allow it to completely dry. (3) Paint your apples (be creative and experiment with unexpected apple colors and shapes!) and allow everything to completely dry. (4) Write a Rosh Hashanah message on the inside of the card — “Shana Tova!” or “Wishing you a sweet new year!” (5) Put the card in an envelope, address the envelope, and send it to someone you love!
