SHABBAT ROCKS

Rocks make the perfect canvas for any painting — your kiddos will love painting their own Shabbat scenes on flat rocks! It also will give them a chance to take a closer look at the pieces and parts of Shabbat — candlesticks, kiddush cup, challah, the Torah, tzedakah box, and so much more! Happy painting!

HERE’S WHAT YOU NEED:

-Rocks in whatever sizes and shapes you like
-Acrylic paint in whatever colors you like
-Paintbrush
-Optional, but very helpful: real Shabbat objects (kiddush cup, candlesticks, etc.) to reference

HERE’S WHAT YOU DO:

(1) Gather your Shabbat objects to reference while you paint. Alternatively, Google “Shabbat” images to use as reference. (2) Paint a first coat background “canvas” on all your rocks — white works nicely. (3) Allow that first coat to dry for at least an hour. (4) Paint a Shabbat object on each of your rocks. (5) Decide how you’ll use these festive rocks to make your Shabbat celebrations extra special!
