CHALLAH COVER FOR ROSH HASHANNAH
Make a special challah cover for your Rosh Hashanah challah! We make our challah round for Rosh Hashanah because it reminds us of the continuing full cycle of the Jewish year. Your beautiful challah needs a beautiful cover — decorate it with pictures of apples and honey, shofars, and anything else that reminds you of the Jewish New Year! L’Shana Tova!
HERE’S WHAT YOU NEED:
-White napkin or handkerchief (20 x 20 inches is a good size)
-Fabric markers
-Rosh Hashannah stencils (I got mine from Benny’s Educational Toys) or cookie cutters
HERE’S WHAT YOU DO:
(1) Wash your handkerchief or napkin in cold water and dry it all the way. (2) Next, iron it so that it’s nice and smooth. (3) Use painters tape to tape each of the four edges of your handkerchief or napkin to your table (or to a big piece of flat cardboard if you need to protect your table). (4) Then, use your fabric markers to write your name on your challah cover; write the year and/or the Jewish year; and draw whatever design you like! Once you’re done, you can use your new challah cover right away; and it will surely make your Rosh Hashannah extra special for many years to come!
