FELT DREIDEL TOYS
Your kiddos will be proud as a Maccabee when they make their very own FELT DREIDEL TOYS! It’s so fun to sew with felt (it’s the perfect material for beginning sewing) and these sweet Hanukkah toys are surprisingly easy to make, even for little hands. Your family Hanukkah celebrations will surely be extra festive with some colorful FELT DREIDEL TOYS!
HERE’S WHAT YOU NEED:
-Felt in whatever colors you like
-Embroidery thread in whatever colors you like
-Dreidel Template PDF
-Needle for sewing (needles with a larger eye are much easier to thread, especially when you’re using embroidery thread)
-Scissors
HERE’S WHAT YOU DO:
(1) Print the free Dreidel Template PDF and cut out one of the dreidels (it doesn’t matter which one). (2) Place the dreidel cut out on top of your felt, and then, using a Sharpie or fabric marker, trace the cut out on the felt. You will need two layers to make one felt dreidel toy, so for each one toy you want to cut out two dreidel shapes. (3) Thread your needle with the embroidery thread and tie the end. (4) Hold two layers of felt dreidels together and begin sewing by starting in the back and pulling the needle forward. Make several stitches (larger stiches make the project go quicker) around the dreidel a little bit in from the edge. (5) Once you make your way all the way around, tie the thread off and then cut the “tail.” (6) Voila — you have your very own FELT DREIDEL TOY!
