HEBREW LETTER SOAP CARVINGS
Your kiddos will love lathering up some fun and learning the Hebrew Alef Bet with this joyful craft! When I was a little girl, we sometimes did soap carvings at my daycare, and I loved it so much, I still remember it to this day. It’s such a fun activity and it’s perfect to do outside on a summer day! Believe it or not, the main tool for the carving is a jumbo paper clip, and it’s very satisfying to scrape away the soap to reveal the Hebrew letters! I made a PDF that includes each Hebrew letter sized to fit on an Ivory bar of soap (the best kind to use for soap carving). The link to that PDF is below. Happy carving!
HERE’S WHAT YOU NEED:
-Bar soap (Ivory soap works best)
-Hebrew Alef Bet PDF (each Hebrew letter in this PDF is sized for an Ivory bar of soap)
-Jumbo paper clip
-Toothpick
HERE’S WHAT YOU DO:
(1) Print the Hebrew Alef Bet PDF on regular weight paper. (2) Cut out the letter(s) you would like to use. (3) Using the paper clip, scrape the top of the soap (either vertically or horizontally) so that you take off the first couple of layers of soap, which includes the Ivory logo. (4) Put the paper Hebrew letter directly on the top of the soap (you can even press it in a bit). (5) Use the toothpick to trace around the letter. (6) Use the paper clip to gently scrape away the soap around the letter. It takes a while, but it’s very fun!
