LITTLE CLAY HAMANTASCHEN

Oh my goodness — this craft is so fun, and it’s a GREAT way for kiddos to practice making real hamantaschen! Polymer clay comes in so many colors, too; so you can make a rainbow of adorable little hamantaschen! Use them as Purim table decorations, for pretend play with dolls, or for whatever you like!

HERE’S WHAT YOU NEED:

-Polymer clay (e.g., Sculpey) in beige and also whatever colors you want for the “filling”
-Mini cookie cutters (I used THIS set - not an affiliate link)
-Rolling pin
-Cutting board

HERE’S WHAT YOU DO:

(1) Starting with the beige clay, get it warmed up in your hands a bit first by rolling a small piece into a ball. (2) Place the clay on your cutting board and then use a rolling pin to make a “pancake.” Then use a circle cookie cutter to make a small circle. (3) Repeat Steps 1 & 2 until you have the number of hamantaschen you’d like to make. (4) Next warm up your “filling” clay in your hands by rolling a small piece into a ball. (5) Place the clay on your cutting board and then use a rolling pin to make a “pancake.” Then use a triangle cookie cutter to make a small triangle. (6) Repeat Steps 4 & 5 until you have the number of hamantaschen you’d like to make. (7) Place each triangle on top of each circle. (8) Fold three edges of each circle toward the middle of each triangle and then pinch the edges to make the traditional hamantaschen triangle shape. (9) Place each clay hamantaschen on a baking sheet covered with non-stick aluminum foil and then bake the clay according to the instructions on the polymer clay package.
