SPONGE-PAINTED MISHLOACH MANOT BAGS
Spread extra Purim joy with some sponge-painted mishloach manot bags! Mishloach manot, which is one of the four Purim mitzvot, are fun care packages that we give to family and friends — fill them with food, hamantaschen, candy, drinks, and whatever surprises you think would be delightful! Download the free Purim Sponge Painting Templates PDF and trace either hamantaschen, a crown, or a Jewish star (or all three!) right on your sponges. Cut them out, dip them in paint, and design your bag however you like. Your bright and cheerful mishloach manot bags surely will make Purim festive and joyful for your dear ones!
HERE’S WHAT YOU NEED:
-Purim Sponge Painting Templates PDF
-Sponges (the ones I used are 4.7” x 2.75”)
-Black sharpie or marker
-Scissors
-Paint (tempera or acrylic) and paintbrush
-Paper plate for the paint
-Gift bag
-Optional: gift tag (the one in these photos is on the free Mishloach Manot Gift Tags PDF) and curling ribbon
HERE’S WHAT YOU DO:
(1) Download the Purim Sponge Painting Templates PDF and print it. (2) Choose which shapes you want to use, cut them, and then use them to trace the shape right onto your sponges . (3) Cut the shape out of each sponge. (4) Put some paint in the middle of your paper plate, and use a paint brush to spread it out in a wider and even circle on the plate (wide enough to accommodate your sponge shapes). (5) Dip your sponge into the paint and swirl it around to ensure that the paint is evenly distributed on the sponge. (6) Carefully press that sponge onto your bag and then lift it up to reveal the sponge-painted design — pretty cool! (7) Repeat steps 5 and 6 as many times as needed to create the design you envision. (8) Once you’re done, allow the bag to thoroughly dry. (9) If you like, you can also add a gift tag using the Mishloach Manot Gift Tags PDF or by creating your own. (10) Now you can fill the bag with goodies and deliver it to your dear ones to make their Purim celebration extra festive! Chag Sameach!
