PAINTING FIRE
To celebrate Lag B'Omer (the 33rd day of the Omer), it’s traditional to light bonfires which symbolize the light that Rabbi Shimon bar Yochai, who is said to have died on Lag B’Omer, brought to the world through his mystical teachings. Here’s an artistic spin on making a bonfire…PAINT “fire!” As you swirl the yellow, orange, and red paint together, you can think of the light within you and how you can best share it with others to make the world a better place!
HERE’S WHAT YOU NEED:
-Paint in red, orange, and yellow (I used acrylic, but watercolors would be super pretty, too)
-Paintbrush
-Thick white paper
-Optional: painters tape (I used some to get a crisp edge to frame each painting)
HERE’S WHAT YOU DO:
(1) If you wish, cut the paper to your desired size (I made 4” squares). (2) If you want to have that crisp edge, put painters tape around the edge of your canvas. (3) Put drops of red, orange, and yellow paint on your canvas (a little bit goes a long way) and swirl it around with your paintbrush. This art project is very open-ended, so you can experiment with different proportions of each color, different brush strokes and designs, etc. (4) Allow the paint to dry completely, and then, if you used painters tape, carefully peel it off.
