PUFFY PAINT CARDBOARD TREE

Puffy paint is positively palpitating, and your kiddos will flip for its foamy fun! It’s so easy to make — just mix one part white glue with two parts shaving cream, add a few drops of paint, and voila, you have puffy paint! There is endless room for creativity when your kiddos create a Puffy Paint Cardboard Tree, and it makes a colorful and unique decoration for Tu B’Shevat — perfect for celebrating all the reasons we love trees! Make sure you make some extra puffy paint and mix it with different colors so that your kiddos have lots of time to play with it. Wishing you and your kiddos hours of delight as you make these dazzling decorations!

HERE’S WHAT YOU NEED:

-Cardboard
-Scissors
-White glue
-Shaving cream (the foamy kind)
-Craft stick to mix the puffy paint
-Liquid watercolors
-Brown marker
-Embellishments to sprinkle on the puffy paint (glitter, gems, sequins, confetti, pom poms)

HERE’S WHAT YOU DO:

(1) Draw a tree shape on your cardboard — you can draw it as one piece or two pieces as I did (or of course however many pieces you would like). (2) Cut out your tree. (3) To make the puffy paint, mix one part white glue with two parts shaving cream and mix it with a craft stick. Once it’s mixed thoroughly, add several drops of liquid watercolors and mix until you see your desired color. (4) Spread the puffy paint onto your cardboard with the craft stick (alternatively, you can put the puffy paint in a pastry bag or Ziploc bag and squeeze it out that way). (5) Sprinkle embellishments on top of the puffy paint (I used two kinds of glitter and also gems). (6) For the trunk, you can make brown puffy paint; you can color the trunk with a marker like I did; or you can use anything you like — paint, pom poms, washi tape!
