CHALLAH BRAIDING WITH PLAY DOUGH
Playing with play dough truly is the best! It’s so fun to roll it, squish it, and mold it into shapes. One Jewish shape you can try making is a challah — just roll your dough into three long and skinny strands, and then braid them together. Voila! Challah! You can use your play dough challah as a Shabbat decoration if you’d like, or you can just make it for fun. Try making them in a bunch of colors!
HERE’S WHAT YOU NEED:
-Play dough — either premade or homemade
HERE’S WHAT YOU DO:
(1) Divide your play dough into three equal parts. (2) Roll each part into a nice, smooth ball. (3) Roll each ball into a long, skinny strand. It’s much easier to braid if your strands are long and skinny. (4) Put your three strands parallel to each other with an inch or two of space between them. (5) Pinch the three tops together. (6) Working from the top, braid the play dough by taking the right-hand strand and putting it in the middle of the left-hand and middle strands. Then, switch over to the left and take the left-hand strand and put it in the middle of the right-hand and middle strands. Keep alternating like this until you get to the bottom. (7) Pinch the bottom ends together and voila — challah!
