CRAFT STICK JEWISH STAR
Make Yom Ha’atzmaut, Israel’s Independence Day, extra festive with this fun Craft Stick Jewish Star with blue and white embellishments! You’ll need six craft sticks to make two sets of equilateral triangles; once you do that, just glue one triangle on top of the other, and voila — you have a Jewish Star! Decorate it with blue and white embellishments — buttons, sequins, pom poms, beads, or anything else that you like! Am Yisrael Chai!
HERE’S WHAT YOU NEED:
-Craft sticks (six of them)
-Glue
-Blue and white embellishments (buttons, sequins, pom poms, beads, etc.)
-Blue or white ribbon
-Scissors
-Optional: it helps to use a paper dinner plate as your work area — this will protect your table
HERE’S WHAT YOU DO:
(1) Use three of the craft sticks to form an equilateral triangle. It helps to do this before you start gluing so that you have a good sense of how to make all three angles the same. (2) Next, put a dot of glue at each of the three corners to join the craft sticks together. (3) Repeat Steps 1 and 2 with the remaining three craft sticks. (4) Now join the two triangles together with one triangle pointing up and the other triangle pointing down — this forms the Jewish Star shape. (5) It helps to mark the six spots where the top triangle overlaps the bottom triangle with a pencil so that you know where to put the glue. (6) Put a drop of glue at each of those six intersection points and join the top triangle with the bottom triangle. Please note that there are a couple of intersections where the space between the top and bottom triangle is probably too big for the glue to hold them together — that’s okay as long as three or four of the other intersection points do join together with glue. (7) Allow the glue to dry at least a half hour, and then string a piece of ribbon about eight inches long through the top of the Jewish Star and tie it together. Now you can hang your Jewish Star decoration anywhere!
